

James was born on August 5, 1957, to Guy W. Mullen and Nancy A. Mullen in Syracuse, New York. After graduating from high school, he went on to graduate with an Associate’s Degree from Montgomery College before going on to study accounting at the University of Maryland, College Park.
After graduating with a degree in accounting in 1993, James worked in his chosen profession for 27 years. He worked at several companies, ultimately reaching the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Century Distributors, Inc. where he worked for 15 years.
In 1990, James met Holly Lou Barber in Derwood, Maryland. James and Holly were married in 1991 and had 4 children together: Andrew Barber Mullen, Anna Elizabeth (Mullen) Kellner, Timothy James Mullen, and Colson Guy Mullen.
James enjoyed playing softball, flying his plane, photography, playing guitar, and studying the Bible. He committed himself to passionately following Christ in the 1990’s.
James is survived by his wife, Holly L. Mullen, his brothers Guy W. Mullen, Jr., Gerard D. Mullen, his sister Kathleen M. (Mullen) Sultan, and his 4 children.
A meet-and-greet will be held with the family on Saturday, October 8, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Neighborhood Church 16501 Redland Rd Rockville, MD 20855, followed by a celebration of life service from 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions on behalf of James can be made to Neighborhood Church or to the Shady Grove Pregnancy Center.
