

Joanne K. Meredith, age 92, of Washington D.C., passed away on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 2020 at her home. Born in Hudson, Michigan on August 20, 1927, to the late Clarence Leo Meredith and Grace (George) Meredith. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Hudson, Michigan. Joanne started her career working for the U.S. Navy at the Pentagon and was a respected and dedicated executive assistant at General Dynamics Corporation for 38 years.
Joanne was a lifelong, devout Catholic and a proud and active member of Annunciation Catholic Church in Georgetown, Washington D.C. In retirement, she was a devoted volunteer and leader. For over 25 years, she was a docent at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. In 2004, Joanne received Papal Honors and the Archdiocesan Order of Merit in Washington D.C. for her years of service to the Catholic Church. She also directed the Rite Catechumen Initiation of Adults (RCIA) program at her church for many years.
“Aunt Jo” was the proud and beloved aunt of 10 nieces and nephews. Survivors include: Susan (Richard) Kading of Bridgman, MI, Diane Meredith of Fox Point, WI, Thomas (Sheryl) Meredith of Keller, TX, Michael (Rhonda) Meredith of Folsom, CA, Barbara Kulseth of Howell, MI, Kathryn Meredith (Phil Rectenwald) of Asheville, NC, Matthew Meredith of Toledo, OH, Elizabeth (Michael) Willer of Hudson, OH, Jacqueline (Peter) Grahn of Chicago, IL, and Steven (Michelle) Meredith of Waterville, OH; 19 grand nieces and nephews and 8 great-grand nieces and nephews. Joanne is also survived by several dear friends who provided her much companionship and assistance in her later years, for which the family is forever grateful. Joanne’s fun-loving sense of humor, intellect, kindness and engaging spirit enriched the lives of all she touched.
Joanne was preceded in death by her siblings: Frederick, Philip, Virginia, John and William.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at a future date at the Annunciation Catholic Church, 3810 Massachusetts Ave NW, Washington, DC 20016. Internment will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Hudson, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Annunciation Catholic Church or Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hudson, MI.
