

John was born and raised in Herrin, IL. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Eastern Illinois University. He had a long and distinguished career in the telecommunication industry. Prior to retirement, his final career move was to Montgomery County Teachers Federal Credit Union as the Chief Development Officer.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Pierson (Matheny) of 52 years; daughter, Meredith Holahan (Pierson); son-in law Matt Holahan; son, Robert Pierson; daughter-in-law Nicole Pierson (Sullivan); his grandchildren, Chase Holahan, Max Holahan, Pierson Holahan, Megan Pierson, Thomas Pierson; brother James Pierson and sister-in-law Sandi Pierson. Followed by a host of nieces and nephews, and an abundance of family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert (Bob) and Helen Pierson.
