Mary Ann Babendreier

Mary Ann (Schrider) Babendreier passed away at home, comforted by family, on December 23rd 2025. She was a lifelong resident of the Washington D.C. area. She was a graduate of Trinity College, Washington DC. She attained her master’s degree(s) from the University of Maryland, College Park, MD - MLS and Trinity College, Washington, DC - MA in Counseling. She retired after a long career as a librarian and many volunteer hours as a child loss counselor.

She was dearly loved and will be sorely missed by all those who knew her. She was the daughter of Bernard Eugene Schrider and Mary Frances McQueeney, the loving and devoted wife of Charles Albert Babendreier, her husband of 70 years. She was the matriarch of 15 children, 37 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

She is survived by her children and their spouses Reverend Joseph Babendreier, Christopher (Josepha) Babendreier, Carl (Melanie) Babendreier, Ann (Dean) Norwich, Peter (Michele) Babendreier, Bernard (Kathryn) Babendreier, Justin Babendreier, Gerard (Maria) Babendreier, Madeline (Ellsworth) Jones, Albert (Berta) Babendreier, Gretchen Babendreier, Katherine (Gary) Glore, Elizabeth (Dave) Hammers, her grandchildren and spouses Sarah (John) Foundas, Sasame (Carlos) Cintron, Zachary (Caitlin) Babendreier, Emily Babendreier, Amanda Babendreier, Mavis (Horacio) Norwich, Robert (Angie) Norwich, Jonathan (Jay) Norwich, Jesse Babendreier, Carly (Kevin) Babendreier, Marcy (David) Babendreier, Rachel (Eric) Jaffe, Megan (Ryan) Babendreier, Benjamin Babendreier, Jake Babendreier, Stephen Babendreier, Theresa Babendreier, Nicole Babendreier, Carolyn Babendreier, Alexandra Jones, Jordan Jones, Hannah Jones, Charles Babendreier, John Babendreier, Leo Babendreier, Millie MacWilliams, Michael MacWilliams, Callum MacWilliams, Sean Irby, Clayton Glore, Grayson (Evelyn) Glore, Theodore Glore, Jack Hammers, August Hammers, and Violet Hammers. Her great grand-children Brylee Loverde, Dimitri, Aidan and Lucas Foundas, Liam, Rowan and River Cintron, Blakely Babendreier, Leonard, Abraham and Isaac Finn, Michael, Luca and Ashton Norwich, Isla and Mabel Jaffe, Parker, Emma and Avery Hughes.

She was preceded into heaven by her mother and father Mary and Bernard Schrider, her brothers Bernard (Regina) and William (Chizuko) Schrider, her mother and father in-laws Clarabel and Albert Babendreier, her husband Charles Babendreier, her children Mary Teresa and John Babendreier and her grand-children Stella MacWilliams and Ezekiel “Oak” Babendreier.

The viewing will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026 from 2-4 & 6-8 at the De Vol Funeral Home, 10 E. Deer Park Dr, Gaithersburg MD 20877

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 12:30 PM at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 15661 Norbeck Boulevard (Leisure World), Silver Spring, MD 20906 followed by burial at 2:00 PM at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 13801 Georgia Ave, Silver Spring, MD 20906.
