Nora was born in County Kerry, Ireland, on October 28, 1924 and lived on the family farm throughout her childhood, surrounded by sheep, cows, dogs and other farm animals. She always retained her love of dogs. She became a naturalized US citizen on November 22, 1968. She worked for Giant Foods and lived in the Chevy Chase neighborhood throughout her lifetime. She was joined in the US by her older brother John Walsh, who died on January 26, 1997, in Monmouth, NJ, and her mother Mary Walsh, who died in 1969.
Nora had many dear friends that she kept throughout her life. She was a devout Catholic, and volunteered at church after her retirement.
