

Robert Thomas Dwyer Jr. (71), of North Potomac, Maryland passed on January 7, 2026, after long complications with illness, in hospice care at the Shady Grove Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. The family’s loving senior rescue dog, Bandit, provided frequent visits and enjoyed their naps together. Bob is survived by his wife, Diane, his two adult children, Shannon Dwyer and Brendan Dwyer, and sister, Patricia Dwyer. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Suzanne Florio and Priscilla Dwyer. Bob was born in Hartford, CT, to parents Robert T. Dwyer Sr. and Dorothy (Palozie). The family lived in West Hartford, Westbrook Connecticut and in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
Academically, he graduated from Westbrook Highschool, George Washington University (B.A. Broadcasting), and University of Maryland at College Park (M.A. Radio, TV, Film). Bob and his wife Diane enjoyed a marriage of over 40 years. He was kind, calm, and always displayed a wonderful sense of humor and wit. Bob enjoyed being a Dad, and held his many friendships in high regard. Cars, history, transportation, sports and the Red Sox were his most passionate interests. He was a loyal dog-lover to Bandit, and his late bulldog Max. Following cremation, a Funeral Mass will be held for family and friends at 11am on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 11701 Clopper Road, Gaithersburg, Maryland. A private burial will take place in Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery, in Bloomfield, Connecticut.
