Sherwood Simon Boxer, 74, passed away on March 7, 2025 in Montgomery Village, MD. He was born in Culver City, CA to the late Julius and Roslyn Boxer and raised in Los Angeles, CA. Sherwood moved from the West Coast to the East Coast to attend Gallaudet University in Washington, DC and earned a bachelor’s degree in Social Work and Psychology. He met his wife at Gallaudet and planted roots in Maryland where he raised his family. Sherwood proudly dedicated his career to public service, working more than 30 years as an Evidence Control Technician for the United States Secret Service. Sports had been an integral part of Sherwood’s life since he was a young boy, playing baseball throughout his life, managing teams, and cheering for his beloved Commanders, Nationals, Orioles, and Dodgers. While sports remained a lifelong passion, his sense of adventure extended far beyond the field. One of his proudest accomplishments was fulfilling a lifelong aspiration to visit all 50 states, a journey he completed with his visit to Alaska in 2014.
Sherwood is survived by his wife, Mary Susan Boxer; daughter, Amanda (Robert) Hoffmaster; 3 granddaughters, Olivia, Aubrey, and Madison Hoffmaster; sister, Elaine Aiello, nieces, Stephanie (Mark) Summers and Ingrid (Al) Wade; and many extended family members and friends.
