Steven DuBos, age 49, of Washington, DC, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2021 after a brief illness. Born in Caracas, Venezuela, Steve spent his childhood years in Wilton, CT before moving to Cabin John, MD where he spent his teenage years. He graduated from Walt Whitman High School in 1989, and remained in the Washington DC area for most of his adult life. He enjoyed a varied number of jobs over the years, including DJ at several Washington DC clubs and restaurants, first mate on a boat in the Caribbean, A/V and home theater design and installation, managing a local marina, and managing a local hardware store. He loved working with his hands, so most recently he was trying (successfully!) his hand at woodworking.
Steve was an avid drummer and recreational golfer (even organizing an annual fundraising golf tournament for many years), as well as a die-hard Yankees and Cowboys fan. However, what he will most be remembered for was his love of Hawaiian shirts. At his passing, the shirt collection was at a count of almost 300!
He will be lovingly missed by his wife of 19 years, Jennifer (Scott) DuBos; his parents, Thomas and Patricia DuBos of Baton Rouge, LA; his sister Barbara Critchlow (Jon) of Weston, MA; his brother Tom (Diane) DuBos of Rio Verde, AZ; brother Lance (Regina Lee) DuBos of Singapore; brother Bryan (Nancy Reed) DuBos of Pleasanton, CA; mother-in-law Nancy Scott and sister-in-law Robyn (Ben Tweraser) Scott of West Brookfield, MA; nieces and nephews Sarah DuBos Budrow; Megan DuBos; Austin Critchlow; Jack, Lauren and Aimee DuBos; and Shannon and Adam Tweraser; his “chosen” brothers, his best friends Greg Smith, Victor Barajas, Scott Sampley and David Smith; and his large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Due to distances and COVID restrictions, there will be no calling hours or funeral. A Celebration of Life may be planned at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society in Massachusetts or the American Diabetes Association.
