Wendy Anne Woods (also known as Wendy Woods Pallett, and more fondly known as the “feisty Canadian girl”), a resident of Greenspring Senior Living in Springfield, Virginia (but previously a long and proud resident of the District of Columbia) passed away on October 7, 2024.
She will be widely remembered for her true zest for life, her positive personality that exuded charm, her creativity, her unfailing kindness to others, her ability to make others laugh so easily, her ability to see the joy and preciousness in the little things in life, her strength in facing difficult situations (including the resolute courage she showed during her last months’ struggles with health issues, before choosing to go on hospice), her undying love for Pinot Grigio (and travel (especially cruises); watching the Royal Family drama unfold; late-night QVC shopping; the movie “Love, Actually;” and food--all sorts of food…), but most important to Wendy, for her never-ending and unconditional love of her friends and family.
She was the only child of the late John and Mildred Schaaf Woods (of Pointe-Claire, Montreal, Canada), and a staunch and proud Canadian until her death (Hail O Canada). After attending “university” in Canada, Wendy left Canada for a long career in the World Bank in Washington, D.C., until her retirement in 1995. Wendy was also the loving wife of the late, and gregarious, Anthony (“Tony”) Thomas George Pallett, who passed away in 2007, and is survived by his son, Anthony Matthew Pallett; his wife, Lee Anna; their daughter, Isabelle; and their son, Alexander.
Wendy leaves behind many dear friends and family, throughout the US, Canada and Wales. She will be greatly missed. But based upon Wendy’s musings, this is the teaching point Wendy would want us to take from her life, and to instill in each of us:
Life is short, life is precious, so keep a positive attitude, always search for the beauty and enjoy the little things, always respect others, and no matter what circumstances you find yourself in, never be afraid to make a new path to find happiness.
We truly hope that all Wendy’s friends and family will share their photos, memories and any life-lessons they learned from Wendy on this website, so we will all be even further enriched (from the grave, so to speak!) by Wendy having been part of our lives. Just click on the “Type here” under “Share a Memory.”
A Memorial Mass is being held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 3513 N Street NW, Washington DC 20007, on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., with an on-site reception following in McKenna Hall. Please note that the only parking is limited Georgetown street parking, so factor in extra time. In mid-late 2025, there will be an interment of Wendy’s ashes at Arlington National Cemetery Columbarium, with those of her husband.
