Shirley, my heartfelt condolences to you the family.  Hal was a unique individual.  He had such compassion, an all consuming work ethic, and definately made an impact on the world.  Rather than think of him over the last several years bedridden, I think of how he would enthusiastically share his current historical research with those he met.  I think of his road trips and stories of feeding the homeless people he met.  He unselfishly shared his knowledge with the next generation through his anonymous gifts to the Library of Congress and museums.  And, even in his darkest days, how he always called you "Sweetheart" with a loving tone and lilt in his voice.

Shirley,   My condolences to you and your family.  Hallam was a great friend of my father, Stan and remember meeting him a number of times as a child.  He gave Stan a 13th Century Venetian coin when I was born and I still have it.  I'm sorry I missed the visitation, I was running late and missed you all by a few minutes.  Pierce Scantlin

We were saddened when you told us about Hal's death, Shirley. I (Peggy) remember the fun times we had going to IBEW parties and events as well as smaller, personal get-togethers. I'll never forget riding in Hal's Rolls Royce! Or was it a Bentley? A ride in that car always made me feel like a rich kid! We hope the days to come will be filled with just such happy memories. condolences to the Webber family. I shall always be grateful to Hallam for the trust and inspiration he extended to me in perpetuating the legacy of the artist Arthur Szyk. I shall be appreciative always and carry with me fond memories of the many mutual and cordial exchanges we enjoyed together as bookseller colleagues. May the family have the fondest memories of your dearly beloved.

I knew Hal for over 50 years and was a numismatic colleague.  After his retirement from numismatics, he went on to become a dealer in rare books and an aficionado of  JFK memorabilia.  Whatever he did, it was with class and honor.  Watching him suffer these past several years was difficult, but he will be suffering no more.  My most sincere condolences to Shirley and the entire Webber family.
