Donna Jo Hughes Parker Smith Sonnenburg

She was preceded in death by her former husband, Jim Sonnenberg; father, Joseph Paul Hughes, Sr.; two brothers; Joseph Paul Hughes, Jr., Randy Earl Hughes-Miller; a sister, Diann Tankersley.

Donna was born in Miami, FL and grew up in Eden, GA. She was a graduate of Effingham County High School, Class of 1973. She was retired from Vos Electric and was of the Christian faith. Donna was a strong, fierce woman with an intense spirit that guided her struggles and loved ones. Donna was a loving and devoted mother, nana, sister and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her mother, Mildred Hughes; 3 sons, Ashley Parker, Albert Parker, Kyle Sonnenberg; 2 brothers, James Howse, Bobby Hughes; 6 sisters, Betty Phillips, Barbara Chronister, Dorothy Zirger, Deborah Tankersly, Mary Haymans, Kaye Malicoat; granddaughter, Kirra Parker; grandson, Gavin Parker; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, close friends; a very dear friend and guardian angel, Thomas Holland.

Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Friday, January 20, 2012 and 2 – 4 p.m. Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Fairhaven Funeral Home.

Funeral Service: 4:00 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Fairhaven Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Carlisle officiating.

Burial will be private.
