Donald Gene Woodhouse

Donald was born in Thomas, South Dakota to Pirley and Ruth Woodhouse, where he was raised on a farm with his sister Dorothy, bother Howard, and his identical twin Ronald and youngest sister Arla.

Donald married Sylvia Iverson on December 9, 1956 in South Dakota and shortly

After moved to Southern California where Donald got a job as a water truck driver.

Donald soon grew to love trucking. He bought his first “Big Rig” in 1965 and International truck. He than graduated to ”Peterbilt” which became his favorite . He Began his independent trucking company, “ Don Woodhouse Trucking.” For over 40 years he hauled everything from Dirt (which was the foundation of the 605 Freeway) Petroleum Coke from the Long Beach Harbor, after that, lumber to Las Vegas when the building boom began. He worked 6 days a week and never complained because he loved it so much.

Donald the Head Usher: He thrived at being head usher, was always the first at church, and last to leave. He ushered for all 3 of the Senior Pastors at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. Every one of them had a very special bond with Don. He attended everything from Church services, musicals, living pictures, all the Christmas and Easter services Funerals, he was there with his strong handshake to his welcoming smile. He was a pillar to Our Redeemer and after retirement helped every day with the food bank and bagging food for the homeless, yard work, Men’s breakfast or just joking around with the “3 Amigos” Don, Mike and Randy. What a fun group of guys serving the Lord.

Donald is survived by his daughter Lori Martin ( Mike) Daughter in law Wendy Woodhouse and Duane Woodhouse. 4 Grandchildren: Brittany, Conrad, Chelsey and Jake. He is survived by his Identical twin Brother, Ronald Woodhouse and sister Arla Crandall and Many Nieces and nephews.

A graveside service for Donald will be held Friday, April 8, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Magnolia Memorial Park, 12241 Magnolia St,, Garden Grove, CA 92841.
