

Lantina “Lanny” Linquist, 94, of Garden Grove, California, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 25, 2020, at UCI Medical Center. She was born in Wakpala in Corson County, South Dakota, on April 16, 1925. The daughter of Peter and Katherine (Merkel) Rieger, she spent her childhood in a large farm family with her brothers Ed, Mel, and Reuben and sisters Lodifa Markel & Elinor Beard, all of whom preceded her in death. They grew up on a farm with no running water in rural Hoople, North Dakota. She attended schools in Cavalier, ND. After completing her high school education, she headed for Washington D.C., where she worked for the Department of the Navy. She married Robert Lansing Linquist on September 18, 1948, in Seattle, Washington. They were together for nearly 68 years until he passed away on July 16, 2016. They raised and provided for their four children in Garden Grove, California. She was the center of the family and devoted her life to it. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was an exceptional mother, grandmother, woman, and person. A talented cook and homemaker and a woman of faith who loved Christian music. She was extraordinarily humble and self-sacrificing with a strong work ethic. She is survived by her two daughters, Karen and Sharon, and her two sons, Ron and Keith, as well as Sharon's husband, Stuart, and their two daughters, Julia and Natalie, and her great-grandson, Benjamin. She was a good, kind, wonderful woman with a drive to serve others. She loved the Lord Jesus Christ, and knew Him as her Savior. She had a passion for her family, the Lord, cooking, gardening, nature, and music, especially Dixieland & jazz as well as hymns & gospel music. She loved spending time with her family, including her grandchildren, their spouses and children plus all of the family's pets. She is greatly loved and will be greatly missed by her family as well as all who knew her.
