Lemuel Guiyab, beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend passed away on April 19, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer. His life was marked with resilience, joy, and the pursuit of our Heavenly Father.
Lemuel was born in Quezon City in the Philippines. He spent his early childhood there and later moved to Tennessee, followed by California where he graduated from California State University Long Beach. Lemuel worked in restaurants during high school and college and landed a job in the corporate world after college. In 2007, Lemuel met the love of his life, Lorrain, and they started their beautiful family together after getting married in 2011. In 2016, Lemuel founded Silog, a Filipino fusion restaurant with a mission of bringing people together through food. His dishes and techniques were heavily influenced by his grandmother and watching her cook for him growing up. Lemuel believed, "If you work hard enough, you can make it happen." He definitely lived up to this motto. Lemuel's unwavering encouragement and love were the hallmarks of his role as a husband and a father. He was always willing to put in the work necessary to ensure the happiness and success for his marriage, his role as a father, and his job as a business owner. Lemuel's legacy will live on in his family, friends, and community, who carry his spirit of love, adventure, hope, and delicious food.
Lemuel is survived by his devoted wife Lorrain; his four children: Nicole, Samuel, Reuel, and Miguel, his mom Cora, and his siblings: Heidi, Jemima and her husband Nathan (and their daughter Millie), and Jethro and his wife Jessica. He is also survived by many titas, titos, and cousins. In addition to surviving family members, Lemuel was preceded in death by his father, Emmanuel Guiyab.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that you make a donation to Lemuel's GoFundMe campaign, which has been set up to support the futures of Lemuel's children and any immediate needs. Contributions of any amount are greatly appreciated and will go towards ensuring that Nicole, Samuel, Reuel, and Miguel have the resources they need to pursue their dreams and build bright futures, just as Lemuel would have wanted.
