We here at Amherst Workshop Players Theatre, Ohio are saddened to hear of Duane's passing. Our condolences to his family, especially Mike and Marisela. 

What a life Duane had! He and Valerie Jenkins started this little theatre group years ago in a church basement.  We are currently into our 77th Season as the oldest theatre-in-the-round in Ohio, performing in a one room schoolhouse. The theatre survived COVID, and with hard working volunteers continues to entertain the community with top notch plays (something Duane and Valerie instilled from the beginning). We have recently purchased the building, and are currently in the process of raising money for a much needed patron restroom. We thank Duane for his generous support over the years and wish him a bright celestial spotlight when he makes his heavenly entrance.

Duane was honored in our 75th Season program: "Graduating from Clearview HS, he approached his drama director Valerie Jenkins about forming a theatre group outside of school. That group was the very beginning of Workshop Players. In 1948 they performed in church basements, private homes and the Amherst Grange Hall until 1952 when they moved into a one room schoolhouse - the current theatre today. 'It is an honor to be included as a player of Workshop. I have fond memories of good people coming together, to discover and participate as a theatre community. I wish you much continued commitment and success.'”
