I’ve attempted to write this message several times but my heart wouldn’t allow me to do it but I’m here to try again.

Ms. Pruitt: From the moment I met you…I instantly knew that you were one of a kind because of that big, beautiful smile of yours. Then when you grabbed the mic and began to sing…wow! The rasp and power in your voice truly blew me away! You exuded confidence in the way you commanded the room and captivated us all. It was truly an honor to have witnessed your greatness. But aside from your performances, you were kind, loving and enjoyed a good laugh. When I think of you, those are the memories I will carry in my heart.

Ki: My Friend! Thank you for sharing your mom with me on several occasions. I am grateful to have witnessed the two of you share the stage together - both in your element. Not only vocally, but in so many ways, you embody the spirit of your beautiful mother. Just as she was, I watched your strength and resilience as you cared for her until her last day on earth. You honored her with love and grace - and for that you should be proud. I love you My Friend! Thank you for being all that you were to your mom, to me and to the world!

I send my deepest condolence to your family. And I'm so sorry for your loss. Your mother was a very beautiful person. She was adored by millions of people. I remember we used to sit on her porch and she taught the kids how to sing and she bought my youngest daughter. Auntie Sherry was a very beautiful spirit, her jokes , her laugh , her different creations and talents , her love was pure . I’m so blessed and grateful to be able to say she was my family . If needed an authentic conversation she’ll tell you a joke But a lie she won’t do . She taught me so much especially when it came to looking good and saying what you mean . I was 4 years old when I met the Fabulous 
Sherry Pruitt,She was more than a diva, she was a marvel. As a child I was blessed to see this chanteuse. She inspired my love for glamour and was a major reason I wanted to design evening wear. When she stepped out dressed to the 9’s 
you knew her greatness, it was undeniable.
She was the epitome of commanding presence, even the fabric she wore knew it had to lay just right. Every diamond, every sequin knew it had to shine their brightest because it was adorning a star. She would wrap herself in an elegant fur, Hair laid. Yet the moment she began to sing none of it mattered. She didn’t need a spotlight. Microphone or any accompaniment.
All she ever needed was her voice. Her voice moved people. Her voice would shame the song birds. She had the kind of voice that was created 
To be shared with the world and she did. More than that she shared her heart. Her joy, her pain she gave voice to the human heart, emotion and experience. She was also known for seeing greatness in others. She saw it in me. She saw me when the world had convinced 6 year old me, that I wasn’t enough. She spoke life into me, she accepted me, protected me, trained me and most of all she loved me. I love you forever Sherry. I have always called you my Godmother and always will.

I only knew Sherry as a musician.  I would go watch her sing.   After I became a FB friend with her, I was so inspired by her. Her love for our Lord and the scriptures she would post.  I would talk to her on Facebook and ask her to pray 🙏 for me.  She would of course always respond with kindness.  I truly miss her FB posts and the way she sang.   She was one beautiful lady.  Condolences to her entire family . I am so sorry for your loss.

Mama Sherry was special to me and I will miss her dearly. ❤️ We met later in life but the wisdom she poured into me is something I'll never forget. She was a sweet soul and her laughter was contagious!! The moments I spent with her were special to us both. We enjoyed our coffee and conversations about the latest and greatest perfume and music. I'd hear her beautiful voice singing from her bedroom and it would make my day. I pray that she is resting in peace with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I will always remember how warm and welcoming Mrs. Pruitt was. No matter where you saw her, she greeted you with kindness and made you feel at home. We met your mom and dad at Sir Alex’s .. What a couple .. They should have both been comedians .. Al would cook; as we would hang out at their home ; and rehearse; barely making it through practice . and walking away with sore stomachs from laughing so hard.. Sherry was a real Light in the world! She and I bonded after we both had strokes and she inspired me daily! She had a voice of an Angel and now she has wings! Rise in Paradise,  Sisterlove 💜🙏🏼🌹

This is very hard for so many of us.  I am particularly crushed by this news.  I know Sherry is in a Holy Place, walking with Al Pruitt and walking with the Angels and Jesus.  
Sherry touched so many, family, friends and fans around the world who were blessed to witness her incredible talent, and especially those of us who are the musicians who got to accompany her.
Sherry always put everything into her performances, as she did the way she lived her life.  Whether a jam session or a performance for the countless shows and festivals, she gave it all.
I got to know her with her husband Al and their daughter Akilah.
One particular performance stands out in my heart; was a few years after the stroke she suffered and overcame.
We went down to Mississippi and performed with a 20+ piece choir of young adults from the Mississippi School of Arts and my band mates Vasti Jackson and Dug Swanson.
The title of the song, "Standing in the Mercy of Our Lord" was a song that only Sherry could sing, and was written for her to sing.
I know she is Standing with Our Lord, now.
Like many who knew her, this is all hard to process.
