Angelita (Lucas) Gentle, 63, of Dallas peacefully surrendered to her long and courageous battle of cancer September 29th, 2023. Angelita transitioned to her heavenly home with family along her side and the help of Gaston Hospice, a loving and caring team of health care providers.
Angelita was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, stepmother, grandmother, dog and cat mom, her “fur babies” as she called them. She had a great sense of humor, told hilarious jokes and her family often thought her jokes were very funny. She was outspoken, but was a loving soul. She loved everyone and would do anything she could for anyone she knew or met. Angelita liked to listen to the police scanner, but was also an avid Garth Brooks, Elvis, Robin Rogers, and PD Nation fan. Angelita touched many lives and will be greatly missed by her family, friends, neighbors and all that knew and loved her.
Preceding her in death is her father, Kenneth Harvey Lucas, Sr., her step-father, Donald Cosmo Mangino, her father-in-law, Bobby Ray Gentle and her mother-in-law, Doris Mabry Gentle.
Surviving Angelita and charged with carrying on her legacy is her husband of 20 years, Ricky Gentle and her daughters, Jennifer (Cathey) Peterson (Leonard Roseboro), Ashley Cathey (Brian Cocker), Jami Gentle (Robert Nall), Allisia Gentle and, her loving mother, Shirley Faye (Gardner) Mangino. Missing their grandmother are her six grandchildren, Jadyen Shrader, Makenzi Shrader, Baylee Peterson, Brooklyn Moore, Lorelai Zander and Lucas Cocker. Missing their sister, Cristy (Lucas) Pack (Rocky Pack), Hallie (Lucas) Williams (Cory Williams) and her brother Kenneth Harvey Lucas Jr. Survivors in her extended family include her niece, Kristen Lucas, nephew Zach Lucas (Alexis Ferguson) and great-niece, Madison Lucas.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday evening October 4, 2023 at Carothers Funeral Home, 2205 Williamsburg Drive in Gastonia.
A celebration of Angelita’s life will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday October 5, 2023 at Carothers Funeral Home, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia. The service will be officiated by Ronnie Jenkins. Angelita will be entombed in the Mausoleum of Peace at Gaston Memorial Park immediately following the celebration of life service.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt “Thank you” to her oncologist, Dr. Gbadamosi, and her team for the excellent and loving care that they always extended to Angelita.
