Betty Massey Nall

Betty Massey Nall passed away Sunday January 8, 2017 at her residence in Smyrna, South Carolina at the age of 88. Born March 30, 1928 on a farm in Homer, Georgia she was hardworking and industrious. Betty always enjoyed trips to the coast and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was the daughter of the late Lon Massey and Ophelia Shannon Massey. She was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, Herbert Nall who passed away in May of 2016; four sisters: Rose, Ruth, Lois and Bertha; one brother: Otha.

Those left behind to cherish her memories and continue her legacy are her daughter Cheryl “Sherry” Temple of Gastonia, North Carolina; one son and daughter in law: Herbert “Stephen” and Linda Hudgins of Belmont, North Carolina; one brother and sister in law: B.F. and JoAnne Massey of Kings Mountain, North Carolina; two granddaughters and grandsons in law: Holly and Kelly Heddleson, Kristen and Josh Childers; five great grandchildren: Devin Harvey, Aidan Reynolds, Maycie Heddleson, Braedon Childers and Eli Childers.

Graveside and committal will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 14, 2017 in the Evergreen Garden at Gaston Memorial Park 1200 New Hope Road, Gastonia, North Carolina with Pastor Bobby Callaham to deliver words of comfort to Betty’s family and friends. Active pallbearers are, Kelly Heddleson, Devin Harvey, Aidan Reynolds, Josh Childers and Braedon Childers.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM ~ 8:00 PM Friday, January 13, 2017 at Carothers Funeral Home Chapel 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia, North Carolina.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made in Betty’s honor to the Gaston County Humane Society 114 Ledford Drive, Gastonia, North Carolina 28052.
