Carolyn is the only daughter of the late Fred Simmons and Vassie Luella Harper Simmons. Carolyn grew up in North Belmont and later moved to Charlotte after her marriage to James Edward Culp. For the last few years “Carol” resided at Loftin at Montcross in Belmont. Carol was an avid pottery maker and left a legacy of hand-made angels.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James and their only son, Mickey Edward Culp, and brother Bill Simmons, Sr. and his wife Dorothy Simmons and brother-in-law Richard Wolfe.
She is survived by her surrogate daughter, Denise Titsworth and her husband Ken, surrogate granddaughter, Amy Wayman and her children, nephews Billy Simmons Jr. and wife Karen, Freddy Simmons and wife Joanie, great niece April S. Sadler and great nephews Brian, Scott and Josh Simmons and sister-in-law Frances Wolfe and her son, Kenneth Wolfe and his wife Evangeline.
A Graveside Service will be held at 3:30 PM on Thursday October 10, 2019 at Gaston Memorial Park in the Masonic Garden, 1200 South New Hope Road, Gastonia. Reverend Ronnie Roseboro will officiate the service. A private burial will follow the Graveside Service.
