

Christine (Ratchford) Clemmer, 90, of Dallas passed away peacefully on Wednesday April 20, 2022 at Peak Resources in Cherryville with her son Gus, wife Wanda and all grand children at her bed side. Christine was strong in her faith, she loved serving her Lord daily. Through that she also enjoyed serving others, she had a caring heart for all. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family meant everything to her. Professionally, Christine worked in customer service for Hays Fluid Control in Dallas NC for many years. After retirement she felt lead to serve her hometown community. She accepted a job with Carothers Funeral Home where she served for 20 plus years. While at Carothers she managed the Dallas Funeral Home, assisting many hometown families during their loss of a loved one.
Christine was also instrumental in the formation and continuation of the “Morning Glories” program at the Dallas Funeral Home. This program was created to supported widows and helped them through their grieving process following the loss of a spouse. During her time at Peak Resources, she continued the Morning Glories program with assistance from her family. She also touched many lives during her time at Peak Resources.
She was an active member at Dallas Baptist Church. She served many roles and on many committees in the church throughout the years. She was an active member of the Bereavement Ministry serving members of the church and extended family of the church. She was an advocate of the C.A.R.E ministry at the church. Christine will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved her.
Christine is the daughter of the late Ida (Clemmer) Ratchford and Jasper Eli Ratchford. Her husband, Vernon Augustus Clemmer Jr, passed away in 1991. Also preceding her in death are her daughter, Julia (Clemmer) Hamrick and son-in-law Mark Hamrick. Christine was the last of six siblings. Her sisters Thelma Cloninger, Mary Brown Robinson and brothers Fred Ratchford, Sam Ratchford and Claude Ratchford all went on before her.
Left to cherish their memories of Christine and to carry on her legacy are her son Vernon “Gus” Clemmer III and his wife Wanda, grandchildren Cari Hamrick Wilson and her significant other Danny Centofanti, Anna Long and her husband Tayler, Justin Clemmer and his wife Shaina as well as two great granddaughters Brennley and Caroline. Christine also leaves behind multiple nieces and nephews.
A service celebrating the life of Christine will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday April 25, 2022 at The Dallas Baptist Church, 402 W. Trade Street, Dallas. The family will receive friends before the service beginning at 1:00 PM at the church. Burial will follow at Long Creek Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery. Christine will be laid to rest between her loving husband and her recently departed daughter. Pastor Scott Henson will officiate and family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
