

After 86 great years of loving and serving her family and others, Gladys Lorine Campbell Phillips left this world on the evening of Sunday, January 21, 2018 to spend eternity with her Lord and Savior. It was obvious that Gladys was a Christian woman… Her children arise up and call her blessed. Proverbs 31:28
Some of Gladys’s favorite things to do were reading, traveling to the mountains, taking the long way through Asheville heading to the Great Smokey Mountains to visit her family and friends. Gladys loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren greatly. She watched her soaps religiously, especially “The Young and the Restless” and made the Best “real” mashed potatoes in the world.
Those left to cherish Gladys’s memories and carry on her legacy are her daughter Janice Harrell of Gastonia, North Carolina; two sons and daughter in law: David and Sally of Belmont, North Carolina, Randy Shaver of Lowell, North Carolina; one sister in law: Louise Campbell (wife of Charles "Buck" Campbell) of Gastonia, North Carolina; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren also survive; not to forget her faithful companion “Benji”.
Gladys was the daughter of the late James Arlie Campbell and Radie “Estella” Watson Campbell. She is also preceded in death by one son: Billy Shavers; two sisters: Dorothy “Dot” Lynch and Ina Campbell; one brother: Charles “Buck” Campbell and her son in law: Steve Harrell.
A Life Well Celebrated Ceremony will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Cramerton Freewill Baptist Church, 426 Woodland Avenue, Cramerton, North Carolina with Reverend Josh Baer delivering words of comfort to Gladys’s family and friends.
Graveside and committal service will follow in the Willow Garden at Gaston Memorial Park, 1200 South New Hope Road, Gastonia, North Carolina.
The family will receive guests from 12:00 PM ~ 1:00 PM prior to the service.
