Margaret Ellen Hoffman

A native of Gaston county, she was the daughter of the late Rufus and Maude Avery.

Mrs. Hoffman was a faithful member of Davis Memorial Baptist Church in Gastonia.

She is survived by her children, Betty Faye Poteat, Mary Ellen Hardin and husband Allen, Joel Benjamin Hoffman, Sylvia Ann Roberts, Jennings Boger "JB" Hoffman Jr. and wife, Joyce, Linda Savage and husband Bill, all of Gastonia; and four generations of grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jennings Boger Hoffman Sr.; children, Jerry Dean Hoffman, Fred Lee Hoffman, Judy Kay Hoffman; brother, Sonny Avery and sister, Sarah Mays.

A funeral service will be held 1pm Saturday at Davis Memorial Baptist Church.

Burial will be at Gaston Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Friday at Carothers Funeral Home in Gastonia.
