

Nancy Means Hudson, 87 of Gastonia, NC died peacefully at her home on August 12, 2012. She was born in Pittsburgh, PA on December 2, 1924 to the late C. Ray Means and Effie O. Means. A graduate of South Hills High School in 1942, she earned a BA Degree from Pennsylvania College for Women (now Chatham University) in 1946. Nancy was a devoted wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was an avid reader, traveler and bridge player. She was also a member of numerous civic organizations throughout her life. She counseled and listened to many younger people. Her kitchen table had room for all and the “coffee pot” was always on. She moved to Gardner Park in Gastonia in 1962 where she resided for the remainder of her life.
Nancy is survived by her sons, Donald L Creed Jr. and wife, Susan of Davidson, NC, Jeffrey M. Creed and wife Joan of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Michael R. Creed of the home, daughter, Leah C. Margerison and husband, Rick of Dallas, TX; granddaughters, Kelley R. Creed of Cornelius, NC, Ashley C. Margerison of Austin, TX, Erica Creed of New York, NY and Veronica Creed of Morristown, NJ, grandson, Andrew K. Margerison and wife, Alison; three great-grandchildren, Rafe, Meena and Nora.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband of 19 years, Donald L. Creed, MD and her husband of 13 years, Carroll Cody Hudson.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 14 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Carothers Funeral Home in Gastonia.
A private family service will be held on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Nancy Means Hudson will be laid to rest in the Garden of John the Baptist, Jefferson Memorial Park, Pittsburgh, PA.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that friends make donations to the Alzheimer’s Association or the charity of choice.
