She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years Charles William Sexton, Sr, who passed away on March 26, 2022.
Shelby was retired from Sexton Janitorial Service, a company founded by her late husband in 1972. She was a member of Parkwood Baptist Church, Gastonia. She enjoyed traveling, camping, going to the beach and searching for sharks teeth, and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grand children. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was a great cook, and made wonderful cakes that her husband decorated. She loved to make pimento cheese and share it with her family.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Charles Sexton, Jr. and wife Patti of Gastonia and Derek Sexton of Myrtle Beach, SC; grandchildren Charles Sexton, III and wife Laura, Heather Sexton Pierczynski and husband Pete, and Andrew Sexton; great-grandchildren Paolo and Lena Sexton and Henry Pierczynski.
The family will receive friends at 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at Carothers Funeral Home at Gaston Memorial Park with the funeral service following at noon with Rev. David Belle Isle officiating.
Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.
