

Thurman Howard Bryant, 91 died Tuesday, June 26, after a long illness. He was born March 7, 1921 in Sylacauga, AL to the late John and Bertha (Howard) Bryant. Mr. Bryant served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Pacific Campaign.
Thurman is survived by his son, Don Bryant and wife, Rachel of Gastonia; siblings, Rev. Burel Bryant and wife, Peggy of Gastonia, sisters, Edna B. Carroll of Murrell’s Inlet, SC, Barbara Jo B. Mitchell of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, son-in-law, Johnny McKenzie; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Edna Simmons Bryant, daughter, Joy Bryant McKenzie, brothers, J.W. Bryant, Arvel Bryant, Virgil Bryant, Bethel Bryant and sisters, Ollie Mae Bryant Schuller, Ethel Bryant Deaton and Verna Bryant Brooks.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, June 30, 2012 at Carothers Funeral Home, 312 West 2nd Ave, Gastonia. Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 pm, Friday, June 29 at the funeral home.
