1945-2021
(English version follows)

*****
Joan Nolan passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 3, 2021.
Predeceased by her husband Bob in May 2019, Joan is survived by her daughter Kathleen (Greg) and son Vincent (Mel), and grandsons Zachary (Ann) and Alexander.
To her husband, children, family, friends and co-workers, Joan was the example of kindness and generosity. She had a lasting effect on all who knew her. She was known for her amazing capacity to love those she held dear and her extraordinary way of making everyone who visited her and Bob feel so welcome. As Alzheimer’s claimed her mind, her spirit was never lost. Joan continued to flash her dimpled smile to those she encountered and never ceased to be kind and tender.
Bob and Joan met in high school and remained committed to each other for almost sixty years. Their lasting marriage seems almost impossible in today’s world yet remains a memory of welcome, comfort and deep friendship.
Joan was fiercely loyal, proud and protective of her family: Nancy (Sandy), Gladys (Régis), Dan (Judy), Bob (Micheline), John (Louise), and Bruce (Susan). God help anyone who tried to say anything negative about one of her brothers or sisters.
Through Bob, Joan was a beloved member of the Verrault family: Violet/Nan, Mike (Lise), Edouard (Louise), Carole (Austin) and Lucy (Normand). Cherished memories of family gatherings are a testament to the wonderful adventures forged with her in-laws.
Originally a schoolteacher, Joan continued to reinvent herself professionally excelling as an office administrator and then as a client services representative. She somehow balanced both home and profession in a way that seemed effortless at the time, but impressive in hindsight.
To her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, she was the best: endless hugs, blankets and towels warmed in the dryer, never a birthday or special event uncelebrated, and amazing desserts at the ready. Joan especially loved children and there were none more loved than her two grandsons, Zach and Alexander.
Joan will be laid to rest in Quebec City during a small private service to be held at a future date.
