Our wonderful Daddy, Papaw, and friend Bernard Anderson went to heaven to be with God, Jesus, and Gladys, his wife of 62 years, on July 1, 2023. He was 95 years young, almost 96 in August. Born on August 13, 1927 to Frank David Anderson and Selma Carolina Elizabeth Carlson Anderson, he was the youngest of four siblings, Irene, Gladys, and Franklin, all predeceased.
He married Gladys in 1952 and they went to work building their lives and future together. Bernard and Gladys had two children, Ruth and Debra, two grandchildren, William and Lauren, and five great grandchildren, Emily, Kysen, Jayden, Ryder, and Leilani. He worked at the University of Texas for 35 years, National Guard for 32 years, and World War II Veteran, serving from 1945 to 1946.
He was everything to his family and friends; teacher, provider, carpenter, electrician, mechanic, plumber, clock smith, welder, friend and everything in between. He could fix practically anything, all he had to do was sleep on it and when he woke up, he would know what to do. He loved his dog Ginger, she was his dear companion to the end of his days, he also enjoyed building bird houses and giving them away at Christmas.
He was an amazing Man, Husband, Father, Papaw, and friend who is and will be missed more deeply and dearly than he could imagine. We are all so blessed to have gotten to be a part of his amazing life. Thank you, God and Jesus.
A visitation with the family will take place on Friday morning, July 7, 2023 at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel from 10 - 11 am with the funeral service beginning at 11 am. The committal will immediately follow at the Evangelical Free Church Cemetery in Georgetown.
