She moved to Texas with her best friend Tina and brought the family with her. Where she lived the rest of her life in Texas with her life partner, Robert Allen, her daughter, Tracy Barnett, granddaughter, and great-grand kids.

From Tracy: So sorry if this sounds like a “why I love my mommy essay”. I have so many memories of my mother. She was smart, funny, outgoing, had the best sense of humor, the list goes on and on. My mother was that mom other kids wish they had. They would say, “Your mom is so cool”. You can tell her anything, she allows you to be a teen/young adult. She trusts your decisions and lets you be you. She was the kind of mom that was known as Tracy’s mom, not Mrs. Jones.
My mother was always by my side without judgement, some disappointment maybe, but always there. She wasn’t too old to remember what it was like to be young and let you make your mistakes, even though she told you so. At times, she could be that troublemaker to keep life interesting, and I wouldn’t change that side of her for the world. Good luck going on a simple shopping trip, you knew something crazy was going to happen, sometimes before you even made it there! There was never a dull moment with Berni Mae. My mom was full of life, so I’m not going traditional or boo hoo at her memorial. Let’s use the word Bio as it sounds better than “obituary”. No “old lady” funeral clothes for her, she’s about to start her new journey. Only good uplifting memories of her are allowed. I’m going to miss my mother, my mom, my mommy, my friend.
From a Grandaughter to her Best Friend
From a granddaughter to her best friend, the one to keep her motivated when she thought she wouldn’t win!! That gave her inspiration deep within, that gave her unconditional love, which only comes from a best friend.
When I think of a best friend, you come to mind; your beautiful face, free spirit, and thoughtful mind.
Your hugs, your talks, your grace, the loving me through all of my mistakes. Being a best friend was easy to do, most of my wisdom came from you.
So best friend, I’m sad to see you go, but the love for you in my heart will continuously grow. I know God needed you, so I have to let go. But now my love for you will always flow.
Love you Granny,
from your Boobie
