Betty was a proud Texan whose life was marked by kindness, resilience, and a deep love for her family. Growing up in Gatesville, she learned the values of hard work, faith, and compassion—qualities she carried with her throughout her life.
A proud graduate of the University of Texas, Betty earned a business degree and remained a lifelong Longhorn fan. She had a special love for girls’ basketball at all levels, rarely missing a game and always cheering with enthusiasm. Her heart for service led her to devote many years to the Special Olympics, where she was affectionately known by everyone as “NaNa.”
She is survived by her son, James Roberts and his wife Jennifer; her daughter, Cathy Gilstrap and her husband Bradley; and her daughter, Joey Suzann Shaw and her husband Kelly. Betty was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She leaves behind twelve beloved grandchildren: Crystal Neese, Phaedra Peterman and her husband Colton, Stephanie McKinney, Matthew Roberts, Michael Roberts, Justin Gilstrap, Skyler Gilstrap, Emma Gilstrap, Katrina Shaw, Morgan Shaw, and Brooklyn Shaw.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, E.A. Roberts; her second husband, Robert Andrews; her step-son, Steven Andrews; and her granddaughter, Caitlin Roberts.
Betty was also blessed with eight great-grandchildren: Ayson and Whitlee Peterman, Zayden and Sundara McKinney, Madyson and Raelyn Gilstrap, and Siana and Everly Shaw. Her legacy of love, support, and boundless encouragement lives on through each of them.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home, 2900 Williams Dr, Georgetown, Texas 78628. A short private graveside goodbye by the family will follow, after which a meal will be held around 12:30 p.m. at Springhill Restaurant, 2505 W. Pecan St., Pflugerville, Texas 78660. Friends and loved ones are warmly invited to join the family for the meal and fellowship.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a local Special Olympics chapter in her honor, or that her memory be celebrated with a kind word, a warm hug, or an act of encouragement—just as she so often gave to others.
