Dr. C. Marselle Knight, 94, entered his eternal rest on August 17, 2019 at his home in Georgetown, Texas. In December 1943 he entered military service to his country as Navy Radarman (Third Class) aboard the USS Lewis Hancock, attending the ROTC program at Stanford University. During WWII, he was awarded 5-Stars in the Asiatic engagement and 2-Stars in the Philippine Liberation. In 1978 Mid-America Nazarene University conferred on him an honorary doctorate.

Dr. Knight is preceded in death by his wife, Betty, of 70 years and survived by their three children: Margaret Young (Georgetown), John Knight (Georgetown) and Joseph Knight (Dearborn, MI), by eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He and Betty committed their lives to Christian ministry, spanning 45 years in the Church of the Nazarene. After pastoring congregations in Florida, Missouri, Texas, South Carolina, Kansas and Oklahoma, he became Public Relations Director at Bethany Nazarene College (now Southern Nazarene University) and later served as Superintendent of San Antonio, Kansas and Eastern Michigan districts.

Dr. Knight and Betty Knight, two of the most influential people in my life, their kindness and humor drew me, their wisdom and witness shaped my faith. Dr. Knight preached a sermon about a sailor washed overboard from the deck of his navy ship, 40 foot waves roiling the Pacific Ocean, in the middle of the night. They sailed back and forth, sweeping the sea with search lights until he was found and safely back aboard. That experience informed a young Marselle, he wanted all souls to be found. He and Betty dedicated their lives to search and rescue and the cultivation and celebration of the lost being found. It was an honor to know them.

Linda and I will be praying for each of you in the coming days in a special way. Your dad was a devoted disciple who loved people. May God bring comfort and peace to each of your hearts during this time of loss.

It was a privilege to know Dr. Knight and his late parents, Dr. and Mrs. John L. Knight and brother Dr. John A. Knight. Dr. Marselle Knight was not only a gifted minister, leader and churchman, but also a gracious and kind Christian gentleman. Though I was young he always took time to speak with me and encourage me. My prayers are with his precious family in their sorrow, but our hearts must be gladdened that he is forever home with the Lord.

Marselle was a very kind man. He prayed with me many times....quite a comfort having such a sophisticated Minister for my neighbor. He and Betty were wonderful neighbors. They are both
missed now but I am sure they are together again in Heaven. May God Bless their Souls.♡

Dr. Knight was a blessing to me and my family. He called me to my first church and was so wonderfully supportive. He baptized our son, Alex. We are thankful for Betty and his influence in our lives! No doubt they are enjoying all of God's blessings as his faith is now sight!
