Curtis Wayne Finley, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and music. He was born on August 9, 1938, in Austin, Texas, and lived a full life rooted in family, hard work, and joy.
Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Iona Stanley and Robert Finley, his first wife, Dorothy Eller Finley, and numerous brothers and sisters. He is survived by his devoted wife, Marilyn J. Rose Finley, who stood by his side with love and care.
Curtis was the proud father of two daughters: Teri McDaniel and husband Clayton McDaniel, and Sherri Scott. He was a cherished grandfather to five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. His family circle extended even wider through his stepchildren—Stephanie Renee Stephens, Debbie Johnson, Tammy Cotton, and Cecil E. Spencer Jr.—and their many children and grandchildren, all of whom brought joy and meaning to his later years.
He dedicated over four decades of hard work to Texas Crushed Stone, retiring after 40 years of loyal service. Known for his sharp wit and unforgettable one-liners, Curtis had a remarkable gift for humor. His quick comebacks and clever sense of humor stayed with him to the very end, providing light even in his final days.
Curtis was also a talented singer and a passionate fan of country music, especially the songs of George Jones. He found great joy in singing karaoke and sharing his voice with those around him.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and remembered for his strength, his humor, and his unwavering love for his family.
A visitation with the family will be held at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel on Monday, July 28, 2025 from 6-8 pm. The funeral service will take place the following morning, also at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel, Tuesday, July 29, 2025 beginning at 10 am. Curtis will then be laid to rest at Weir Cemetery.
