Dale Laird Martin was born on September 6, 1927 in Coleman, Texas, to James Thomas Laird and Lillie Rucker. She was the second of 4 children. She peacefully left this earth on August 22, 2024. After graduating from Coleman High School, she attended the University of Texas at Austin studying Fine Arts. It was while at the University of Texas that she met and married Charles "Chuck" Ernest Martin - a very handsome, smart and outgoing Marine veteran who had proudly served in World War II. They celebrated 68 years of marriage in January 2016, just prior to Chuck's death in February 2016.
In 1954, after Chuck finished his BS in Physics, they returned to his hometown of Pearsall, Texas, so that he could open up his own insurance and real estate business. In 1958, they adopted a baby girl, Jill, from the Methodist Mission Home in San Antonio; 2 years later they expanded their family again with the adoption of their son, Eric. They lived in Pearsall until 1994 when they moved to Georgetown, Texas. They volunteered with a number of organizations in Georgetown; were active in First United Methodist Church and Pathfinders Sunday School Class; and were involved for many years with the Skirts and Shirts Square Dance Club. Dale was also a long-time member of the Georgetown Music Club.
Dale is survived by her daughter, Jill Martin Seibert; her son-in-law, Jeffrey Glenn Seibert; 3 grandchildren, William Seibert (Ashley), Jordan Elizabeth Seibert, and Brandy Martin Eoff; great-grandchild, Jameson Benn Seibert; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Chuck Martin, and her son, Eric Lynn Martin.
A celebration of Dale's life will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 28 at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home, 2900 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas 78628. A private graveside service will be held later in Hondo, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Georgetown Project; Doctors Without Borders; Providence Place (formerly the Methodist Mission Home in San Antonio); or the charity of your choice.
