

Frances Ann (Kinsella) Hayes passed away at 85 years old on October 27, 2023, in Austin TX. She was born September 18, 1938, to Frances Gertrude (Moylan) and Joseph Lawrence Kinsella in Wheeling MO. She graduated from St. Joseph Academy in 1956. Frances Ann went from St Joseph Academy to nursing school at St Margarets. After a year there and finding the curfew hours too restrictive, Frances Ann enrolled at Kirksville College. In her third year she met her future husband, George Hayes. The two were introduced by Gordy Anderson and Marilyn Mayes in January of 1960. In June 1960 George met Frances at the John Kirk library to ask for her hand in marriage. They were married on June 3, 1961.
The next three years 1962, 1963 and 1964 the couple had three sons, Ted, Tim and Mike Hayes. George continued his education while Frances Ann worked for Skyler County as a home economist in charge of the 4H and one TV spot a month. Frances’s judged at the county fairs and worked at the extensions clubs but when she found herself pregnant with her third child she quit because she felt she couldn’t ask for another 6 weeks off. After Mike was born, she returned to teaching. Frances taught English and Home Education at Elmer Missouri High School. After George’s graduation from Kirksville Osteopathy School Frances left the workforce and became a full-time homemaker. Frances and George moved from Kirksville Missouri to Tucson Arizona for George’s medical internship. Frances and George welcomed two more children into their family. In 1967 the couple adopted a little girl, Kelly, and in 1968 Patrick Hayes was born. In 1972 George had finished his internship so then, Frances and George loaded up the 5 kids and moved to El Paso Texas where George opened his medical practice at the Tigua clinic.
Frances enjoyed being a mother and homemaker to her children. She was involved in all of her children’s social activities and scholastic events, from a Cub Scout Den leader, Brownie mother, to a coach for girl’s soft ball team she actively participated in all her children’s activities. As we became school age, mom returned to the workforce. Using in Home Economics Degree, she was hired by Montgomery Wards to teach microwave cooking to customers, eventually she was transferred to the sales team until Montgomery Ward closed.
She enjoyed traveling with dad, visiting Ireland, Venice, Mexico and going on several cruises, she enjoyed visiting different cultures. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed outdoor activities such as golf, snow skiing, and while living in Austin she became an active participant in the yahoo fantasy football league. After dad passed in 2006, she returned to teaching and spent her time as a substitute teacher in the El Paso High and Ysleta school districts. Eventually she retired and moved to the Austin area in 2015.
Maintaining her faith in the Lord, she enjoyed working at St Christopher's Church in El Paso serving meals to the community. During the summer months she enlisted the help of her visiting grandchildren to help serve food to the community. After moving to Austin, she participated in bible study and St Richards in Round Rock Texas. She never lost her faith in the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years George Hayes, her sister Kathryn Reece and her parents Joseph and Frances Kinsella. She leaves behind her children: Theodore Hayes and wife Gloria, Timothy B Hayes and wife Nancy, Mike Hayes, Kelly Schermerhorn and husband Frank, Patrick Hayes and wife Katie. Her grandchildren: Travis, Tanner, Emily, O’Bryan, John and Claire. Her Great Grandchildren: Ethan, Taliyah Hayes. Siblings: Jr and Larry Kinsella, and 13 nieces and nephews.
Mom’s passing came quickly and unexpectedly, she will be missed by all who knew her.

A memorial service for Frances will be held Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home, 2900 Williams Drive, Georgetown, TX 78628. Following the memorial service will be a reception from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
