Gilbert Leroy “Roy” Wilson, 92, of Georgetown, Texas, passed away on February 10, 2026. He was born on March 6, 1933, in Amherst, Texas, to Joy Gilbert “JG” Wilson and Lillian Wilson. Roy was the oldest of five children and carried that responsibility and strength throughout his life.
Roy proudly served his country in the United States Army and retired with honor as a Chief Warrant Officer 2. His years of service reflected his dedication, discipline, and deep sense of duty. After his military career, Roy continued his strong work ethic at Texas Crushed Stone, where he worked for 20 years before retiring. Whether in uniform or on the job, he believed in doing his work well and standing by his commitments.
During those years, Roy and his family lived on a small ranch where he enjoyed raising cattle and tending the land. He found satisfaction in the steady rhythm of ranch life. He also treasured the time spent working on vehicles alongside his sons, Anthony, Richard, and David, and his grandson Tommy — passing down not just mechanical skills, but patience, determination, and the value of hard work.
He was married to Gladys “Merle” Wilson for more than 55 years, sharing a lifetime of devotion, partnership, and love. He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Gladys “Merle” Wilson; his siblings, Joyce Braithwaite, Ernest Wilson, and JR Wilson; and his first wife, Dorthy Ruth Wilson.
Roy is survived by his children: Deborah Williams, Gilbert “Buster” Wilson Jr., Laurie Monson, Anthony Wilson, Richard Wilson, and David Wilson. He is also survived by his brother, Harold Wilson; his sons-in-law, David Monson and Michael Williams; his daughters-in-law, Tommie Aquisto-Wilson, Lige Anne Wilson, and Christy Wilson; 18 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren, all of whom were a source of great pride and joy to him.
Roy will be remembered as a steady presence, a provider, a man of service, and a patriarch whose life was marked by loyalty and perseverance. His example of strength and commitment will continue through the generations that follow him. Though his family grieves his loss, they find comfort in knowing he is once again reunited with his beloved Merle — the partner of his life — a reunion his heart longed for.
Visitation will be held at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on February 17, 2026. Graveside services with military honors will be held at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas, on February 18, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.
