Guadalupe “Don Lupe” Magallan (Grandpa Lupe) passed home to glory on April 7, 2018 at St. David’s Hospital in Georgetown, Texas due to complications from his advanced alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver. He was 65 years old.
Grandpa Lupe was born on June 2, 1952 in Edinburg, Texas to parents Tomas and Lucia Magallan. Being the oldest of thirteen children, Lupe finished his schooling up until the 8th grade, when he would begin working as a migrant worker to help provide for his siblings. Later on in life he received a G.E.D. He would have three children with his first wife Irma, MaryJane, Guadalupe Jr., and Bruce Magallan. They divorced and Lupe later married Anna Cardena. They would also have three children, Rebecca, Victoria, and Scott Magallan. They lived in Denton, Texas where they ran a janitorial business.
He was a God fearing man and believed in passing down wisdom and knowledge to the youth and generations to come. Don Lupe served faithfully as an usher at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He always gave thanks for his blessings putting God first, and faithfully believed that “as for him and his household, we serve the Lord.”
Don Lupe is survived by his three sons, Guadalupe Jr., Bruce and Scott Magallan; three daughters, MaryJane, Rebecca, and Victoria Magallan; four brothers, Tomas Jr., Jesus, Alejandro, and Manuel Magallan; seven sisters, Janie Magallan, Olivia Reyes, Eriqueta Salas, Leticia Cavazos, Maria Canehola, Yolanda Magallan, Rachel Olivarez; and twenty-one grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his mother Lucia Magallan and his brother Jose Angel Magallan.
Mr. Guadalupe Magallan will have a visitation from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Friday, April 13, 2018 at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2018 in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Bob Mardock officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Scott, Bruce, Guadalupe Jr., and Jose Magallan, Jonathan and Johnavon Davila, Fabian Garza and Joey Reyes.
