Helen Louise Trommer was born in Akron, Ohio and graduated from High School in 1942. During High School she met her future husband, Russell H. Trommer and they married in 1943. As World War II started Russell joined the United States Navy in May of 1944 and was stationed aboard the USS Halsey Powell (DD 686) and served in the Pacific during this time of the war. Russell was given an Honorable Discharge at the end of the war from the Navy in 1946 and returned back to Helen in Ohio.
Helen and her family moved to Wellington, Ohio, where Russell worked as a machinist. Helen and her family later moved to Mt Clemens, Michigan, then to Lexington Kentucky and she started to work for Central Baptist Hospital. During this time in Kentucky, Helen was a very active with the hospital and being a gardener and then working on her private pilot license as well as being a avid golfer. After Russell retired from IBM, he and Helen moved around Kentucky and finally to Texas so they could be closer to their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Helen’s family wishes to acknowledge the support and care given by her granddaughter, Michele Wieckowski during the last 6 years of her life.
Helen Louise Trommer was preceded in death by her husband Russell H. Trommer; her parents, Paul and Pearl Witherow of Akron, Ohio; and brother Charles and sister Josephine Johnson all of Akron, Ohio; great grandson, Noah of Cedar Park, Texas; and daughter in-law, Sherry of Georgetown, Texas. She is survived by her son Gary and daughter in-law, Sherry of St Croix VI; granddaughter Michele and husband, Steve Wieckowski of Leander, Texas; grandson Jeff and wife, Gloria of Lajitas, Texas; son Rick of Georgetown, TX; grandson Andy and wife, Angela of Ft Worth, Texas; grandson Griffin and wife, Lauren of Josephine, TX; brother in-law Norman Trommer of North Carolina; brother in-law William Trommer of Ohio; sister in-law Barbara Rotunda of Ohio; numerous cousins and other relatives and 4 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.
