John Thomas Gilchriest

John Thomas “Tom” Gilchriest passed away at his residence on June 10, 2024, at age 74 after a prolonged illness. Born in Silsbee, Texas, on August 8, 1949, Tom graduated from Silsbee High School in 1967 and later earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, in 1976. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1968 to 1972, receiving an honorable discharge. Tom and his wife, Regina, initially resided in Beaumont, where Tom pursued his career at Southwestern Bell Telephone (later AT&T) until retirement. In 1994, they relocated to Georgetown, Texas, before settling in Liberty Hill, Texas in 2019.

Preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Jackie Gilchriest, and brothers, William Everett Gilchriest Jr. and Ronnie Capps, Tom is survived by his wife, Regina Allen Gilchriest, of Liberty Hill, his daughter, Anna Gilchriest, and her fiancé, Bryan Fahey, of Georgetown, as well as numerous relatives and friends across East and Central Texas.

In lieu of flowers, Tom requested that those who wish to extend condolences consider contributing to their local ASPCA in his memory. A celebration honoring his life will be arranged for a later date.
