

John O Oliver passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2023, in Georgetown, Texas at the age of 92. He was born on November 23, 1930, and grew up in Jacksboro, TX as one of nine children born to Tom and Othello (Clayton) Oliver. After serving his country aboard the USS Miller (DD-535) during the Korean War, he married the love of his life, Lorraine (Boteler) Oliver, in November of 1957, in Mansfield, Texas.
During his working career, he worked short stints for the U.S. Postal Service and 7-Eleven convenience stores before finding a home at a family-owned hydraulic and pneumatic supply company in Arlington, TX where he retired as a vice-president after more than 25 years of service. Wherever he lived over the course of his life, John O was a faithful member of a local congregation of believers, and he was actively involved with The Gideons International ministry until the final months of his life. John O was a friend to many, a dedicated husband to Lorraine, a patient and steadfast father to his sons, and a loving Grandpa to his family.
His was a life well lived.
John O was preceded in death by his parents, seven of his siblings, and his wife, Lorraine, who passed in February of 2016.
He is survived two his sons, John Garth Oliver, and his wife Kasie, and Walter Thomas Oliver, and his wife Lora; four grandchildren, Dustie Buchhorn, Brittany Lotts, Garret Oliver, and Elise Oliver; and seven great-grandchildren. He will be missed by all.
Services for John O Oliver will be held at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery (11463 ST HWY 195, Killeen, Texas, 76542) on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at 2pm.
