Josie was born on January 4th, 1974, to Ivy Marie Jones in Cameron, Texas. Josie grew up in Rockdale, Texas, with her sisters and cousins attending school from elementary to High School. She went on to live in California for a short period before returning to Texas, where she resided until her passing.
Josie found her calling in the healthcare industry, where she thrived. Over the years, she has helped thousands of patients in emergency, cardiology, and cancer clinic settings, touching the lives of everyone she met. She was the very definition of selfless. For most of her career, she worked as a cardiac tech, where she conducted stress tests, and finally as a certified medical assistant for the Cancer Center in College Station. Every patient and their family was met with the pure kindness, compassion, and advocacy that only Josie could provide as she poured her everything into her life’s work. Her selflessness extended beyond her work to her family, friends, and even strangers as she always took time to help uplift others.
However, the job that Josie loved best was being an Auntie to Loryn and Micah, always being so supportive and caring. In her spare time, she loved to read, play word games, cook, sing, and watch disaster movies. Her personality was loving, silly, and warmhearted. You could find her scrolling online laughing at funny posts shared with loved ones, sipping a cup of coffee. She also loved singing gospel music in the morning as she was a highly faithful individual which contributed to her cheerfully generous and kind disposition.
Josie is preceded in death by her grandmother, Helen Jones, and grandfather, Ollie Jones, and her beloved uncle Wayne Jones and aunts, Regina Mayfield and Mary Louise.
She leaves behind her mother, Ivy Jones, her sisters, Sharon Bailey and Rhonda O’Neal, and her niece and nephew, Loryn Bailey and Micah O’Neal. Likewise, she leaves behind several beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and family friends whose lives she has greatly impacted. We have a hole in our hearts that will not be filled and will miss her terribly, but rest in knowing she is with Our Heavenly Father.
In lieu of flowers, please honor Josie with a donation to a charity of your choice.
