On July 31, 2018 Kenneth W. Farr took his final earthly journey to heaven. Ken was born in Knoxville, TN on July 27, 1941 but moved to Sparks, Nevada as a toddler. He would often speak of his charmed childhood that was filled with love and adventure.
Ken spent 25 years in the banking industry with Nevada National Bank reaching the level of Vice President. Ken’s passion for golf led him to open a golf store, The Golf Bag. He then moved on to own a business in construction control until retirement in 2009. He moved to Georgetown, TX to teach golf and enjoy his retirement with the love of his life Debby.
While in Sparks he was a member of many service organizations as well as serving on boards and commissions. He felt that it was important to give back to the community that he loved. Ken was also an avid UNR athletic fan and always had football and basketball season tickets. He fell in love with baseball as a young boy and the Dodgers was his team always. But golf was his true passion, he studied it, practiced it, loved it and shared it.
Ken was also a fabulous chef. He had such finesse with creating wonderful meals and loved to have friends over to spoil them. Sometimes even wearing his chef jacket for fun. He loved to make others laugh with his dry sense of humor and wit.
Ken’s truly greatest asset was his love for others. He was a true friend and sweet, loving husband. That love grew even deeper when Jesus Christ entered his life. He loved learning all he could about Him. He loved his church family and was dedicated to being an active part of it.
In 2016, Ken was diagnosed with Dementia and he and Debby went on a road trip that lasted 5 months and 12,000 miles. They saw many of the great things in our country and played golf all along the way. He called it his greatest adventure.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Grace Farr. He is survived by his wife Debby; brother, Larry and sister Frances, Wedmore, as well as daughters Tina Palmer, Terri Rush and Tami Farr. Ken has 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
