Lee married in 1959, and began his family while working in sales in Corpus Christi, Texas. In the early 1970's, he moved the family to San Antonio, Texas to open a service station in the medical center area. This began Lee's career as an entrepreneur and he remained self-employed until his retirement. He owned Leasit, Inc., a renter of heavy equipment and source for contractor supplies, for more than twenty years before selling and starting a communications company in San Antonio, until finally retiring in Georgetown, Texas. His passion for the outdoors and vegetable gardening was only exceeded by his relentless desire to always provide for his family. Lee could often be found tending to his fruit and Pecan trees or preparing the land for next seasons vegetable crop on the small farmland he cherished near Jonah, Texas. In addition to a green thumb, Lee also designed and created beautiful stone landscapes and water fountains in just about every house the family owned. Even in retirement, Lee kept busy teaching handgun safety classes, traveling and fishing.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and home health care providers that so selflessly tended to Lee's needs in these final months.
Lee is survived by his wife, Geraldine Upshaw, 71, of Georgetown, Texas; sons Chuck Upshaw, 52, of Boerne, Texas, and Clayton James Upshaw, 46, and wife Liz Upshaw of Boise, Idaho, and daughter Gretchen Upshaw, 44, of Austin, Texas, and granddaughter Bre-anna Upshaw, 16, of Spirit Lake, Idaho.
