

On Thursday October 28th, 2010, Lorrey Ballew was called home. He slipped into a peaceful sleep after battling with lung cancer. Lorrey Ballew was born January 11, 1939 in Castor, Louisiana to Leroy Thornhill and Lois (Warren) Ballew. He was a master upholster in South Austin for 45 plus years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ballew.
Lorrey is survived by his two children, Mike Ballew and wife Jeanette Ballew and daughter Dianna Ballew and husband Shaw Pidani, and his six grandchildren and one great grandchild.
He was a giving and a loving father and grandfather.
Lorrey never met a stranger. You may have met him in passing at one of the restaurants he frequented in the last 5 years such as Montana Mike’s, Monument Café, and IHOP. He loved to kid around with the staff or maybe one of his many visits to Ace Hardware.
The family wishes to offer a very special Thank You to Lighthouse Hospice and staff and also to Dr. Costanzi and his staff for his care during Lorrey’s illness.
Visitation will be held Sunday, October 31, 2010 from 4-6 pm at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home on Williams Drive (next to Ace Hardware) in Georgetown, Texas.
Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday November 1, 2010 at Allen-McNeil Cemetery near Bee Caves (FM 2244) off Cuernavaca in Austin, Texas. The family invites friends to the Funeral Home at 11:30 am to follow in procession to the cemetery.
