She was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on December 7, 1925 to William David Coffey and Abbie Belle (Coats) Coffey. Lou graduated from Austin High School and attended Texas Wesleyan College. She married William H. Knudsen on October 20, 1945. She worked as a credit manager for Gilmore Brothers Department Store. Lou was a founding member of the Worship Place in Sun City, Texas. She had a passion for sewing and loved taking care of her family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and grandson Jeffrey Sakowicz. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her children, Lou Ann Lasher and husband William, Becky Sakowicz and husband Art, Jane Smith and husband John, and John Knudsen and wife Brigette; her grandchildren, Kristin Marsh (Gregg), Claire Tetlow (Derek), Dan Sakowicz (Amy), Greg Sakowicz, Andy Smith (Erin Puhl), Amber Drake (Andrew), and Alexandria and Trenton Knudsen; and eight great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation to be held from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 30, 2019 at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. She will be laid to rest at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Georgetown.
