Maria Velez

Maria Velez was born May 8, 1935 in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, the daughter of Francisco and Theodora Rodriguez. Maria passed from this life January 26, 2021 peacefully at her home. Maria had lived in Belton, Texas for over 40 years. She worked as a Housekeeping Supervisor for Scott and White Hospital for over 30 years.

Maria loved playing tennis, baking and singing with Mariachi groups and spending time with family. She was also an avid supporter of her sister’s Round Rock Ballet Folklorico Dance Company. As a beloving wife, mother and grandmother, she loved her family tremendously.

She is survived by her husband Mario R. Velez, Sr.; daughter, Mayra Velez; Sons; Gustavo Velez and wife Kathleen and Mario Velez, Jr., and wife Theresa; sister, Yolanda Sanchez; brothers, David Rodriguez and Francisco Rodriguez; grandchildren, Nichole Alarcon, Andre Velez, Mario III and Avianna Velez; great-grandson, Diego Alarcon.

Visitation will be held Sunday, January 31, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 1, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home, 2900 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden Capitol Parks Cemetery, 14501 N Interstate Hwy 35, Pflugerville, Texas.
