Mary Lizotte, of Austin, Texas passed away on Friday, January 10, 2025, after reaching the age of 87 years old. She passed peacefully at her home with her family by her side.
Mary was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt, who lived life with a passion for her family and her Catholic faith.
Mary was born on February 10, 1937, in Port Lavaca, Texas to Martin G. Sanchez and Antonia Longoria Sanchez. She is preceded in death by her husband, Norman Lizotte, her parents, her brothers David, Eloy, Eddie and Martin Sanchez and her sister Dora Olivarez.
Mary is survived by her sister, Lucille Saiz; her four children: Cindy Sanchez and her spouse Nathan, Sheryl Moreno, Michelle Lizotte and Omar Lizotte; seven grandchildren, Roger, Joshua and Stephen Moreno, Christopher, Nicholas and Austin Sanchez and Jack Lizotte; eleven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was a veteran and served in the Army from June 1956 to November 1957 and received an Honorable Discharge as a Private First Class.
Mary met the love of her life, Norman Lizotte, while they were both stationed at Fort Knox in Kentucky. Norman and Mary were married in Fort Knox on October 5, 1957. After her discharge from the Army, they relocated to Bangor, Maine and then after 5 years they moved back to her home state of Texas.
Mary graduated from Stephen F. Austin in May 1956. She was a member of the Distributive Education Club, providing for the exploration of vocational opportunities. She was member of the Pan American Club, developing a better understanding of the Spanish-speaking world and our Latin American neighbors and was involved in Intramurals. Her senior yearbook says, she was “Quite a Treat”.
Mary was a 1965 graduate of Nixon Clay Commercial College where she specialized in business administration.
She started her business career with Texas Employment Commission on January 24, 1966. Mary was a Key Punch Operator and retired after 27 years as a supervisor.
Mary’s hobbies were sewing, cooking, reading, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Funeral Service: 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm
Burial: 2:30 pm – 3:30 pm at
