

May Hope Ball, 95, passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2018. A service celebrating her life and faith will be held on Tuesday, May 1st, 10 am at Gabriels Funeral Chapel, 393 N IH 35, Georgetown, TX, with the Reverend Erin Conaway officiating. Private interment will follow at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX.
May was born October 30, 1922, the second in a set of triplets, in Breckenridge, Texas to Ellis and Willie Hope. She graduated from Breckenridge High School with the class of 1940. On December 11,1943, she married Clyde Gilbert Ball at the Air Force Base in Hobbs, NM. Together, they raised two daughters and shared the joys of life together for over 70 years. Her life was always centered around her home and family, no matter where home was. As an Air Force wife, she moved 38 times and loved every place she lived. After retiring from the military, they moved back to Breckenridge to ranch for 33 years. She was an excellent cook and loved to entertain in their home. She was also an avid duplicate bridge player. She was a lifelong Baptist and attended church regularly until recently. Once she was unable to attend, she read completely through the Bible.
May was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Gilbert, two sisters, Elsie McMurray and Kathleen Fambrough and her triplet brother, Ray Hope. She is survived by her triplet sister, Fay Parks; daughter Rebecca Griffin and husband Sam; daughter Judy Hudson and husband Michael; grandchildren Gilbert Griffin and wife Traci; Gregory Griffin and wife Jennifer; Chad Hudson and wife Debra and Christopher Hudson; great grandchildren Ryan Dagley, Kaleb Griffin, Kristiana Griffin, Maegan Griffin, Alyssa Hudson and Kelsey Hudson and other loving family and friends.
Her daughters wish to thank the staff and nurses at Longhorn Village for their loving care of mom.
The family requests that memorials be given in May’s name to either the Lymphoma Research Foundation, the Texas Exes Longhorn Village Chapter Gerontology Scholarship Fund or the Longhorn Village Residents’ Foundation. Donations to the scholarship may be made at www.texasexes.org/longhornvillage. Donations to the Longhorn Village Residents’ Foundation may be mailed to 12501 Longhorn Parkway, Austin TX 78732. Donors may choose either the Residents’ Assistance Fund or Residents’ Quality of Life Fund.A Visitation with the family will take place on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 between 9 and 10 am at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel in Georgetown, Texas with the Celebration of life to begin at 10 am. A Graveside service will be at 1 pm, Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas.
