

Mildred Walker Braun, 86 of Georgetown, passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2012, with her family at her side. Mildred’s family will gather on Friday, February 10, 2012 at 2:00PM to celebrate her life and her faith, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, FM 972. Interment will follow at St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery. Mildred was born March 29, 1925 in Weir, Texas to the late Sidney and Ida Scott Walker. Mildred was raised in the Weir area all her life; she had a love and passion for her family and the Texas Hill Country. She graduated from Georgetown High School in 1942. Mildred married Alvin Emil Braun, on October 14, 1942 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. Mildred and Alvin spent many years together cultivating their family, their business and their land. They were long time active members of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Mildred was involved for many years with the St. Peter’s Ladies Aid. Together they owned and operated, the Georgetown Livestock Auction. She enjoyed working in her yard with her flowers and collecting crystal. Mildred had an artistic ability with needle arts like cross stitch and crewel embroidery. Her family will cherish the many pieces she artistically stitched for them over the years. Mildred was always willing to give of herself either in her time or her loving care she gave her children and grandchildren. She was known for her simple but excellent cooking. Over the years, the recipes have been duplicated but never replicated, her loving touch was that secret ingredient. Mildred’s family will truly miss her and the care she always gave them. Mildred is preceded in death by her parents, Sidney and Ida Scott Walker; her husband of 64 years, Alvin Braun; sister-in-law, Jacque Walker; great niece, Stephanie Williams. Mildred leaves behind to carry on her legacy and cherish her memory her loving children, Ray Braun and his wife Linda of Florence, Kay Henry of Hondo; brother, Howard Walker; grandsons, Clay Braun of Hutto, Clint Braun and wife April of Lakeway, and Cody Henry and companion Nikki Rainey of Batesville; granddaughters, Cammy Braun of Jarrell, Velvet Verner and husband Tony of D’Hanis, and Leslie Rainey and husband Codie of Bandera; great grandchildren, Rankin Bell, Laramie and Lexie Verner, Brooke and Blake Braun, and Slayten Rainey; along with numerous other loving family members and friends.
