Nicholas Joe Solis

Nicholas Joe Solis died suddenly of a massive heart attack early Friday morning December 7, 2012 one week shy of his 67th birthday. He was born in Bertram, TX on December 14, 1944, living his entire life in and around the Florence area. Mr. Solis also lived in Taylor, TX where he retired from Taylor Iron Works in 2008. He and his wife made many beautiful memories and numerous friends, while living in Taylor and attending Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Nick and Lucy currently are active members of Celebration Church in Georgetown. Nick was a patriotic man who loved his country very much. He was drafted into the Army in 1965 and served in Vietnam. He was a proud Vietnam veteran and frequently shared his military stories. A true patriot he always ensured his flags were proudly displayed year round. He was honorably discharged in 1971. Nick is survived by his wife, of 21 years Lucy Torres Solis as well as his only son Sergeant Nicholas Joe Solis Jr. and wife Mary Beth of Georgetown, TX., along with his step-children, whom he loved as his own; Ray Valadez of Hutto, TX., Geneva Villarreal and husband Robert of Georgetown, TX, Missy Minjarez of Round Rock, TX, and Nancy Valadez of Round Rock, TX. He also leaves 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren and his loyal companion, Chulo. Nick is preceded in death by his parents Andres Solis and Carlota V. Solis; his brothers, Pete Solis, John Solis, and Enrique Solis, as well as his granddaughter, Stephanie Marie Valadez. Nick was a simple man who lived life to the fullest. He was very admired by his friends, family and children. He was a true hero. Services are being provided by The Gabriels Funeral Chapel in Georgetown TX. The family will welcome visitors Tuesday, Dec. 11 from 6-8 p.m. at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel, 393 North IH 35, Georgetown, TX. A funeral service will held on Wednesday, Dec. 12 at 10 a.m. at Celebration Church, 1202 Rabbit Hill Road, Georgetown, TX 78626.
