Randall Lee Bruton entered the presence of his Lord and Savior in the quiet hours of June 7, 2025, in Georgetown, Texas, surrounded by the love of his wife and family. Born on September 26, 1957, in Olney, Texas, to William Lee Bruton and Lois Denton Bruton, Randy’s life became a tapestry of hard-won wisdom, resilience, and devotion.
Randy learned early how precious family is, attending Olney schools before earning his GED and studying at Tarrant County Junior College. He was a steadfast husband to Merle, a loving father to Nelson, and a guiding presence to his stepdaughters, Dawn, Debrah, and Melissa. For twenty-five years, Randy’s heart belonged wholly to his family; there was nothing he would not do for them.
With a tireless work ethic, Randy dedicated many years to the gravel industry, mastering every machine and every task with equal parts determination and pride. No matter the challenge, he met it head-on, quietly perfecting his craft and helping others along the way.
A man of many passions, Randy was an enthusiastic Texas Longhorns fan and cherished attending their football games. He also loved the excitement of NASCAR and rarely missed a Sunday race. Some of his favorite moments were spent riding his Harley Davidson with Merle through the beautiful Texas Hill Country, sharing the adventure and beauty of the open road.
Randy’s story is also one of redemption and hope. After facing addiction, he chose a new path and celebrated eighteen years and eleven months of sobriety—a testament to his courage, faith, and unwavering commitment to the ones he loved.
When his health required him to step back from work, Randy and Merle sold their home and took to the open road in an RV. Together, they explored the Austin area’s beauty, making a home wherever their hearts felt lightest—most memorably along the quiet shores near Freeport. Eventually, they settled in Georgetown, finding comfort in family and community while receiving the care Randy needed.
Randy faced cancer bravely for five years, sustaining his hope with the strength of his faith. To the amazement of his doctors, he would smile and say simply, “You don’t know my God!”
Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Lois Bruton; his grandparents, D.J. and Myrtle Bruton of Olney, and Ruth and A.P. Denton Sr. of Knox City; and many beloved aunts and uncles.
He leaves behind his devoted wife, Merle Robertson Bruton; his son, Nelson Lee Bruton of Wharton, Texas; his stepdaughters, Dawn Myers and husband Nathan of Conway, Arkansas, Debrah Moore of Round Rock, Texas, and Melissa Lynes and husband Noah of Georgetown, Texas; mother-in-law, Mary REJOICE Robertson; aunts, Lou Vail, Gay Denton, and Kay Denton; uncles, Bob Lake, Kenneth Bruton, and Birdie Bruton; brothers-in-law, John Martin, Joseph Martin (Patsy), Howard Robertson, and Robert Robertson; sisters-in-law, Rebecca Castillo (Jason), and Bonnie and Mike Montgomery of Briggs; twelve grandchildren, Staci, Zoe, Colton, Kayla, Dominick, Brian, Jordan, Nathan, Cedric, Aubry, Keely and Brylan; two great-grandsons, Parker and William; and many cherished cousins and friends.
Randy’s life reminds us that grace, love, and perseverance can light the darkest paths. A memorial will be held Thursday, June 19, 2025 at 2:00 pm at the Sycamore Pavilion, San Gabriel Park, Georgetown, Texas.
