Raymond Luther (Ray) Phillips, born January 31, 1928 in Bend, Texas to Emmett Russell Phillips and Allie Estelle (Combs) Phillips passed away peacefully at his home in Liberty Hill, Texas after a 15 year struggle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Ray was a loving husband, step-father, son and brother.
His formative years were spent living in the Texas hill country ranching with his father and brothers. He served his country in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War from October 14, 1948 to October 13, 1952. After separation from the Navy, he started his career with Western Auto Supply Company, eventually owning two of their stores. He eventually relocated to Georgetown,Texas, then in 1986, he and Betty Jo built their home in Liberty Hill, Texas where he passed.
Ray was a man of few words, with a dry sense of humor, and all that met him loved him. He spent many years with his wife Betty Jo, and his four step-children, then his grandchildren, camping and fishing on the Inks and Somerville Lakes.
Ray is survived by his wife of 50 years, Betty Jo (Teffeteller) Phillips. They were married in Hempstead (Waller), Texas on January 3, 1963.
